Masoud (Mahdi) Zatpour, former world bodybuilding champion, was shot dead at the age of 39 by the forces of the Islamic Republic regime on Motahari Street in Rasht. This champion from Rasht was a graduate in sports physiology and worked as a coach. Four days prior, he wrote in a message: "You have left us with no bread, no peace, no comfort, and no respect. Our right is not bullets, guns, threats, and killing. Do you want to take me? I am ready. Do you want to kill me? I am ready. What do you think I have to lose? Nothing. There is hope in all our hearts that we will see a tomorrow as beautiful as the Hyrcanian forests, as magnificent as Damavand, as blue as the Persian Gulf, and as powerful as my mother Iran." He also stated in his last posts, hours before his death: "The voice that has been silenced for forty years must be shouted out. I am here today so that tomorrow I do not look in the mirror and say I was rootless, I was without honor. I will pay whatever the cost. I am Masoud Zatpour, today I am on the street, I have no fear and no worries. I want my rights."
