In light of reports regarding a potential U.S. decision to attack Iran, Benny Beaton, the mayor of Dimona, informed the residents of the city that shelters have been opened. He emphasized that this decision was made to enhance preparedness and that there has been no change in the internal command guidelines.

Benny Beaton wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday evening: "We have opened the shelters." He added: "The events of October 7 taught us a fundamental lesson; it is better to be prepared than to be caught off guard. For this reason, as a precautionary measure, I decided to open all public shelters in the city so that citizens feel secure."
