AFP reported on the efforts of three Arab countries to dissuade U.S. President Donald Trump from attacking Iran.

The agency reported on Thursday, January 25, that Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman are leading efforts to convince Trump to give Iran a chance to demonstrate goodwill from its leadership.

According to a senior Saudi official who wished to remain anonymous, these three Gulf countries have undertaken a long, intensive, and last-minute diplomatic effort.

Reports indicate that on Wednesday, some personnel from the Al Udeid military base in Qatar were evacuated, and staff at U.S. diplomatic missions in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait were also warned to exercise caution amid rising concerns over a U.S. attack due to Iran's crackdown on protesters.

Two diplomatic sources told AFP that the security situation at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar has decreased after some personnel were told to leave on Wednesday due to regional tensions.

Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he has received guarantees from "very important sources" that the Islamic Republic will not execute protesters.
