Abbas Iraqchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic, responded to questions about the number of fatalities from anti-government protests in an interview with Fox News, stating that this number is 'only a few hundred.' He referred to reports indicating that between 2,500 and over 12,000 protesters have been killed in various cities. Iraqchi claimed that 'terrorists equipped by Israel' shot at the police and the public to increase the death toll and create a pretext for Donald Trump's intervention.

He also accused the United States and Israel in a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations of seeking to overthrow the Iranian government by equipping and encouraging protests in Iran. In response to the host's question about the mockery of the Supreme Leader towards the President of the United States, Iraqchi said: 'We were in the midst of a war that was initiated against us, and such rhetoric is completely natural in any war.'

Iraqchi also addressed the issuance of death sentences for protesters, stating: 'There is no plan for hanging. Hanging is completely off the table.'
