The American network NBC has reported that at least two people were examined following a protest gathering in the Westwood neighborhood. The Los Angeles Times quoted the Los Angeles police as saying that a man has been arrested. Sources from the Los Angeles police department told the Los Angeles Times that officials are investigating the possible motives of the driver for this action, referring to the message written on the body of the covered pickup truck. A video from the scene shows a sign on the truck that read: "No Shah, No Regime, No Mullah, America: Do Not Repeat August 19, 1953." According to the Los Angeles Times, a regional transportation management center in Los Angeles reported that around 3,000 people had gathered in the Westwood area by 3 PM. Iranians residing in various cities around the world, including in the United States, have held gatherings in solidarity with the people of Iran and in support of their anti-government protests within the country.
