On January 8, around 3:30 PM Tehran time, IPv6 traffic in Iran suddenly experienced a drop. This protocol, which underpins many internet services including mobile internet, new browsers, applications, and internet calls, has faced disruptions.

According to a report by Cloudflare, the volume of announced IPv6 addresses in Iran has decreased by approximately 98.5%, and the share of IPv6 traffic has fallen from about 12% to 1.8%. This disruption has occurred at a time when internet access has been selectively disrupted simultaneously with protests.
