Sky News reported that the UK government has started the process of withdrawing its personnel from the US military base in Qatar.

This action is taking place as Donald Trump, the President of the United States, recently stated in response to developments in Iran that "help is on the way" and that a "very strong action" would be taken if the Iranian government carries out planned executions. In response, the Islamic Republic has threatened to retaliate against US military bases in the region in the event of a potential attack.

In this context, the United States has also begun the withdrawal of some of its forces from the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which is considered the largest US base in the region.

A spokesperson for the UK Ministry of Defence, in response to these reports, stated: "Due to operational security considerations, we do not comment on the details of deployments and bases. The UK always takes necessary precautions to ensure the security and safety of its personnel, including, if necessary, the withdrawal of staff."
